storyboard-director
kevinchin12/storyboard-director
storyboard-director is an agent skill project by kevinchin12 on GitHub: Story → storyboard script; subagents draw per-shot line art in parallel, an HTML review board sends chosen shots back for revision, and approved shots become video prompts in shot order. It covers storyboard and prompts, and its README says it works with Codex. 35 stars, last updated 2026-10-11, MIT license.
README is in Chinese; per-shot line art relies on Codex's built-in image generation
Editor's notes
Built for Codex; needs Python 3.9+ and Pillow 9.1+, and a bundled script installs the main skill and 4 sub-skills into ~/.codex/skills. Each project is a session: state lives in session.json, images in assets/, and review happens in session.html. The run pauses for approval after the script package, the line art and the video prompt; the default aspect ratio is 16:9, and video prompts default to text_only, so the internally generated line art never has to be uploaded. The two examples in the repo are an 8-shot cat story and an 8-shot product video.

Names and descriptions come from each SKILL.md frontmatter; Chinese descriptions are shown in our English translation.
- storyboard-director
Run a prompt-controlled story-to-storyboard workflow: ingest a story idea and optional character/scene references, prepare an approved shot package, generate and register per-shot line art, collect user review in one HTML board, and deliver one ordered aggregate video prompt. Use for complete story…
- storyboard-aggregate-prompt
Write the aggregate video prompt for a confirmed line-art storyboard session. Use after the user confirms line art. Produces the fixed subject/scene/music preface plus ordered Shot blocks without redesigning the storyboard.
- storyboard-final-frame-optional
Optional branch for generating final styled storyboard frames from approved line art. Use only when the user explicitly asks for finished frames; accept either a user-provided style image or a text style lock.
- storyboard-lineart-generator
Generate and register per-shot storyboard line-art from an approved storyboard session. Use after script package approval and text-only prompt preflight. Supports parallel/multi-agent generation and updates session JSON/HTML with saved asset paths.
- storyboard-script-planner
Plan the script package for a storyboard session: ingest story ideas plus optional character/scene references, lock aspect ratio and project mode, write shot text, production anchors, line-art prompts, and text-only script/prompt review. Use this before storyboard line-art generation.
